Rahman Group started in 1997 in the travel sector and today works across international manpower recruitment, readymade garments and textiles, real estate development, import and export, and restaurants, through Rahtex Industries Ltd., Rahman Overseas, Rahman Overseas Tradelink, Rahtech Developers Ltd., and Lobster Restaurant.
Speaking to National Times, Chairman S. M. Zillur Rahman said manpower exports and garment exports, two sectors the group is active in, play a critical role in earning foreign currency for Bangladesh.
He pointed to the shrinking channels for workers going to Malaysia and the risks of irregular routes, noted that Europe and the Middle East will need around forty million skilled workers from abroad by 2030, and called for more training facilities so Bangladeshi workers can meet that demand.
On textiles, he said Rahtex Industries Ltd. aims to prove its quality in home textiles, especially bed sheets, under the RAHTEX brand in local and foreign markets, and urged Bangladeshi businesses to look beyond the traditional European importing countries.
He encouraged young people to prepare for the fourth industrial revolution and artificial intelligence with their own merit, creativity, and courage.
